Questions and answers

I can obtain my tax refund for how long period?

You can apply for tax refund for past six years, of course, on condition, that such refund is due. Remember that the tax year in Great Britain lasts from 6th April until 5th April next year (f.e. the tax year 2005/2006 begins on 6th April 2005 and finishes on 5th April 2006)

When can I apply for my tax refund?

For tax refund we usually apply only after finishing the tax year, but in justified cases you can apply for it also during this year. Such special situation would be f.e going abroad, but only when you do not plan to go back to the UK till the end of this tax year.

What do I need to apply for tax refund?

P45 from each place that you worked in during the tax year (this document is issued after finishing your employment). P60 issued by the company, in which you were employed at the end of the tax year (5/6th April). If you have not got P45 or P60 you should send us the original payslips.

What amount I should get?

You can apply to get back only the excess payment of your tax and it is not true that we are able to get the total tax which you paid in the UK. If you want to check how much tax refund belongs to you, use our calculator.

How long does it last to get the tax refund?

The whole procedure usually lasts about three months from the day when your complete documents were delivered to the Financial Office in Great Britain. In some cases, getting your money back can last a little longer, especially when a person does not possess a permanent National Insurance Number or has not got the P45 form or personal details in it are not completed and they are wrong.

Why do we act as authorized agents?

We do not burden you with work. We act in Inland Revenue as entitled tax agents. Thereby we take the responsibility for getting your tax refund back. That is why we, as a firm, are recognised in Inland Revenue. It often happens that tax agents, in place of you, fill the forms and, in advance, take the high commission and you must personally conduct your tax refund procedure without any quarantees to get your money back.

How do we protect your money?

You do not have to cash your cheque yourself. On the basis of arrangement and decisions with British Inland Revenue, National Polish Bank and our leading bank we quarantee safe sending of your cheque to our bank and its instant casing. Commission for this operation is covered by us. There is no need you pay for cashing your cheque, and, even worse, wait additional four weeks for the payment.

How can you control us?

The most important principle is publicness of tax refund i.e. proper financial office will notify you directly about the amount of this refund and also about the date when the cheque is sent. There is not such possibility that your money are kept for a long time on a bank account.

How do we control foreign office workers?

About 40% of all tax refunds are delayed through office workers fault and becauce of a mess in foreign offices. Together with the office in the UK, we have created a system of working standards to prevent such situations www.podatekangielski.pl/downlodad/procedures.PDF.
